Week One

Every week for the next four months, we will suggest two new foods you can try with your baby. This week’s food are easy

Oatmeal (makes 3 servings)

Ingredients:

¼ cup steel cut oatmeal (organic if possible)

1 cup water to cool

2-4 TBSP milk, breastmilk, or formula for each serving

Oats absorb a lot of chemicals, so buy organic if possible.

If you have a food processor or blender, pulse the oats a few times to break the bits up smaller. Note: You can stop doing this step once your baby is about 8 months old.

In a large saucepan, bring the 1 cup water to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in ¼ cup oats.

Reduce heat to medium-low, to get to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is very thick.

Before serving, stir in 1 packet / 2 scoops of Lil Mixins and up to 2 TBSP milk/breastmilk/formula as needed to thin the oatmeal + cool it down.

Apples (makes 3 servings)

Ingredients:

2 apples

In a small saucepot, bring four cups of water to a boil. Meanwhile, peel apples and chop into ½ inch pieces, discarding the core & seeds.

Add apples to water and boil covered until apple pieces are very soft. Mash or puree in a blender until it has an apple sauce texture. Fold in 1 packet/ 2 scoops of Lil Mixins for each serving.
